Cover hands 

When you start cleaning the mattress, make sure to keep yourhands covered. Otherwise the dirt etc. will get stuck under your nails and inbetween your fingers. That dirt could get to your stomach when you eat and make you sick.   

Remove accessories 

Take off any accessories you may have worn on fingers andears etc. In the rush of cleaning you could lose rings or ear rings etc. andthen it will be difficult to find them.   

Cover face-nose 

Wear a mask of any sort and cover your face to avoid gettingthe dust and dirt in your eyes and nose which could harm your lungs and causeitch in your eyes. If such dust and dirt are inhaled, it can cause various allergic reactions.

Use eco-friendly materials. Make sure the materials arenon-toxic. Your skin’s exposure to toxic materials can trigger infections orallergies. Inhaling such toxic materials’ airborne residue can also be harmful.  

Reduce equipment usage

Equipment can be useful for effective cleaning but it canalso be damaging if not used properly. We recommend professional cleaning withequipment every 6 to 12 months. Although when you are cleaning a mattress on your own at home, you should avoid using equipment. They can damage the mattress if not used properly.   

Prevent moisture

When you are cleaning your mattress, try your best toprevent moisture from entering your mattress and if you are using methods thatinvolve moisture then make sure to dry your mattress properly once it iscleaned.   

Don’t let dirt and stains getworse 

While treating stains and spills on your mattress, don’t letthem spread and get worse. Be very careful with stains as they could get worseby spreading further and also by getting into deeper layers under the surfaceof your mattress. 

Change bedding and flip mattress  

When you are cleaning your mattress, change the bedding aswell. Put on fresh bedding. And also clean your mattress from both sides andwhen you set it back, make sure to flip it. That will help your mattressbreathe and stay fresh.   

Deodorise 

If you cleaned your mattress and didn’t deodorise it, itwould be pretty much pointless. There are many home remedies that you can useto deodorise your mattress. One of such remedies is baking soda! You can simply cover the mattress surface in baking soda then leave it and let it sit for a while and then vacuum away the baking soda. If this doesn’t deodorise the mattress at first go, you can repeat this process several times.   

Mattress cleaning on your own is good and healthyalthough you will need your mattress to be professionally cleaned every 12 months or so to make sure your mattress is deeply clean. All the layers areclean and there is no mold or dirt or dust in the narrowest spaces.
